This week we’ve been chatting to Moreno Moser who’s currently taking part in his maiden Giro d’Italia, riding in support of team leader, Ivan Basso. Only 23 years’ old but already in his third season with Cannondale Pro Cycling.
G4: Cyclist, singer, artist – is there no end to your talents?
MM: I try to sing. Have you seen the video? I haven’t really drawn since I was as school and now I’ve probably forgotten everything!
G4: Did you play any other sports or was it always the bike?
MM: I used to play football but honestly I wasn’t very good. I started cycling as a child and, along with all the other kids in my small town, joined the local cycle club. At the start, I wasn’t very good but I improved as I grew older. I’m not much of sporty person. I don’t really enjoy watching sport on the television.
G4: Maybe, more of an artistic type? Lots of top athletes prefer to participate than spectate.
MM: I like competition. I like to test myself against the strongest but I really don’t do many other sports, just a bit of skiing in the winter.
G4: What do you like to do in your free-time or when you’re relaxing after a race?
MM: Sometimes I read but not too much. Maybe I have to do more? I like to listen to music, all types of music. I search for new albums from groups or singers that I like. I enjoy PlayStation where I’m very competitive. But I haven’t played so much recently. Then, when I’m at home, though I’m not home too much, I spend time hanging with my friends doing nothing too much, nothing special.
