We’re blowing out 28 candles today on the birthday cake for Cannondale Pro Cycling’s Alessandro De Marchi who hails from San Daniele del Fruili. That’s right, it’s the place famous for San Daniele prosciutto, so we’ve made Alessandro a ham and cheese savoury cake. It contains Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, is studded with small chunks of that ham and is covered with a (low-fat) cream cheese and chive frosting.
