We hope recent birthday boy Alberto Bettiol has recovered from the celebrations as we to pose a few quick questions.
G4: Where are you based?
AB: Castelfiorentino in Tuscany
G4: What would you have done if you hadn’t become a professional cyclist?
AB: An aircraft pilot!
G4: You’d look good in the uniform. What do you plan to do after your cycling career?
AB: Far too early to say, who knows?
G4: As a professional rider, you spend a lot of time chilling. How do you relax?
AB: I watch television and check stuff out on my computer.
G4: What do you miss most when you’re away from home?
AB: My family and friends.
G4: What sport do you play in the off season?
AB: Five a side football, I play an attacking game.
G4: What do you like best about your G4 team casual wear?
AB: It’s free! Okay, I like the cut and colour.
G4: What are you going to tell your grandchildren about your days as a professional cyclist?
AB: Sport teaches you a lot about life.
G4: Are there any things you typically avoid eating to remain at your ideal racing weight or any dietary tips you’d like to share?
AB: Get plenty of sleep and try to eat healthily – no alcohol or fast food!
G4: If I were to ask your team mates about what you’re like as a room mate, what would they say?
AB: He’s very neat and tidy.
G4: Every team is full of different personalities, who’s the joker in the pack at Cannondale?
AB: It’s got to be our Directeur Sportif Dario Mariuzzo. He’s a great laugh.
G4: Which race would you most like to win and why?
AB: Of course, it’s got to be the Giro d’Italia.
G4: And we thought it might be one of the Ardennes Classics?
AB: Well it’s true, on past performance, I’m more likely to win that type of race but who knows what might happen…………………..
G4: Congratulations on your excellent English.
AB: Thanks, I spent time at an English language school on the south coast.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on Alberto’s progress next season with Cannondale/Slipstream.
