Recent birthday boy Davide Villella has been making a name for himself in some of the King of the Mountain’s competitions. We finally caught up with him to pose a few quick questions.
G4: Where are you based?
DV: Bergamo, along with Daniele Ratto.
G4: What would you have done if you hadn’t become a professional cyclist?
DV: A gangster!
G4: You come from Lombardy not Sicily! What do you plan to do after your cycling career?
DV: Open a Pizzeria.
G4: As a professional rider, you spend a lot of time chilling. How do you relax?
DV: I like to stretch, watch television and read biographies.
G4: What do you miss most when you’re away from home?
DV: My girlfriend(s)!
G4: I hope none of them read this for your sake. What do you do in the off season?
DV: Five a side football and table-football. I’m the Cannondale table-footie champion.
G4: What do you like best about your G4 team casual wear?
DV: It’s free! Okay, I like the colour, fit and style.
G4: What are you going to tell your grandchildren about your days as a professional cyclist?
DV: It was hard but I saw a lot of the world at a young age and they should try to do the same.
G4: Are there any things you typically avoid eating to remain at your ideal racing weight or any dietary tips you’d like to share?
DV: I try to eat sensibly and avoid fast food.
G4: If I were to ask your team mates about what you’re like as a room mate, what would they say?
DV: He’s pretty neat and tidy.
G4: Every team is full of different personalities, who’s the joker in the pack at Cannondale?
DV: That’s our Directeur Sportif Dario Mariuzzo. He’s always joking around.
G4: Which race would you most like to win and why?
DV: Il Lombardia because it’s my home race.
We love the fact that whatever happens Davide’s got a big smile on his face. It’s as if he can’t quite believe it’s happening to him. He can barely keep a straight face when we continue the questions tomorrow on video!
