Two Cannondale Pro Cycling riders are celebrating their 29th birthdays today. Consequently we’ve been doubly busy in the G4 kitchens whipping up an enormous light-as-air chocolate and hazelnut confection for Cristiano Salerno and Fabio Sabatini to share.
Apart from their birthdates and team, the two have quite a bit in common. Cristiano Salerno and Fabio Sabatini were both very promising junior riders, albeit in different disciplines. I suspect they come from cycling families. Neither is particularly active on social media. They’ve both gotten their 2014 season underway: Fabio at the inaugural Dubai Tour while Cristiano rode the GP Costa degli Etruschi.
A couple of his team mates have said that Fabio’s a bit of a joker, but he’s looking pretty serious here!
Cristiano joined the current team a few year’s back after impressing team management when he won the overall in the Japan Cup. Last season he was top dog in the mountains in Volta Ciclista a Catalunya.
Having debuted on Italian soil, Cristian is now looking forward to his local race this Friday: Trofeo Laigueglia – we wish him and the rest of the Cannondale boys every success.
