Another day, another birthday, another cake! Ted King is (in)famous for his love of maple syrup and so naturally we incorporated this ingredient (liberally) into his birthday cake. It’s a maple syrup flavoured layer cake, covered and sandwiched with maple syrup meringue frosting, then we’ve scattered toasted pecans on the top and drizzled maple sauce over it. Of course, the maple syrup we used hails, like Ted, from New England. And, Ted don’t worry, it’s 100% pure maple syrup!
On his website, Ted recently wrote an impassioned piece about “Maple Syrup” which I would urge you to read. He’s so right, there should only be one ingredient in maple syrup and that’s 100% maple syrup. See any other ingredients in there? Then, don’t buy it.
In the video above Ted King talks about another subject dear to his heart, a charity called The Krempel Center which has an annual ride in New England in the Fall, fuelled by shots of maple syrup and peanut butter sandwiches. Let’s take a look.
Ted’s been training over in Southern California and Girona and will shortly be heading to Dubai for his season debut in the inaugural Dubai Tour. Meanwhile, have a great birthday Ted!
