G4's VIEWS ON THE NEWS: What we liked | What we didn't like

In our new section “G4’s VIEWS ON THE NEWS”, you’ll find out what we liked and didn’t like in the week’s news!

WHAT WE LIKED:

  • Warren Barguil returns to a French team! This is good news for French Cycling and France, Our expatriate has come back home! France now has another real leader and a headliner with a glorious future! With the retirement of Voeckler, the French public can get behind its new chouchou with WaWa mania! The Breton can ignite passion with his handsome face!

  • We enjoyed reading about Mikael Landa’s feelings about his role during the Tour de France! He could have done more but was obliged to work for his team leader with nothing in return from his www.teamsky.com">SKYteam-mates. Nothing really changes year on year. The job of a professional cyclist is sometimes a frustrating compromise between personal ego and team directives!

  • We were interested to read about the new partnership between Bianchi and Ferrari. Further details will be known at Eurobike and we’ll keep a close eye on how it progresses.

WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKE:

  • Christopher Froome says that French spectators aren’t very nice to him… Sniff! Sniff!… Maybe Froome’s right, the French would prefer a French winner!

  • The traditional post-tour criteriums are in full swing this week! It’s an international circus with the best riders from the Tour de France competing at night on city circuits where the real stars of the show are the sausages, French fries and beer. It’s laughable when the French national champion, who wore the green points’ jersey during the Tour, is beaten in a sprint by WaWa, the Tour KOM jersey winner! Either Arnaud Demare is still suffuring or…!?

  • Pierre Latour, a young talented rider at www.cyclisme.ag2rlamondiale.fr/fr/">Ag2r, fell and broke his pelvis during the Tour de France, a bitter blow for him and the French… A broken pelvis isn’t a good omen. Hopefully, in six weeks he’ll be back at his best like WaWa was. Hang in there Pierre!
