Literally born on the roads of the Côte d’Azur, the G4 brand is inspired by the values and glamorous heritage of the French Riviera. The sumptuous sea, magnificent mountains, mythical roads and multicultural diversity have defined its character and pay homage to the resolute will of cyclists from all over the world in search of the new way of riding shaped by the house of G4. Geoffroy’s creativity and revolutionary vision have resulted in him creating the G4 brand that takes his knowledge from many years as a professional cyclist and combines it with his desire to always look elegant whatever the circumstance! Follow Geoffroy Lequatre’s example and let him guide you to want the unthinkable.
“I always liked fashion and design. When I was young, I already cut and painted my jeans, I created logos, I was interested in trends. I have always been immersed in the creative. I needed between two hotels, two planes, to get me out of the middle of the bike so I really did that at the first time to decompressed. I started to design, I had a big fan club and finally it started a little like that. I made jerseys, banners, things a little different in terms of design.
My accident in 2005 played an important role. You think and tell yourself, overnight, what am I going to do? This is when I started thinking about my reconversion. I passed as the designer of the pack. So today I would say that it was really good times because I had fun and I was like that! In 2008 I created a first collection for Agritubel from the Tour de France and in 2009 they give me the opportunity to create all their sportswear clothes. Its started there. I signed in Amstong team and then come G4. My french nickname was 4L and G4 for the Americans. I created my brand, G4, at the end of 2010 when I was at Radioshack. In the beginning it is above all a passion that really a business. It has become a reconversion but today I propose things that I like and that I would have liked to wear during my career, it is also what motivated me to act by creating my brand.
This is the philosophy of Geoffroy Lequatre: to make the performance elegant!
“It sounds obvious today, but it was not necessarily when I was professional cyclist. I was always frustrated to put on my outfit. Let’s say that our team clothes were not always very nice … We were wearing slightly too big clothes, some series ends that got rid of certain marks. It was always missing that little thing chic. Sometimes, the colors were not even consistent with those of the team.
. I have never considered myself a nerdy person, but rather, on the contrary, as an avant-garde. At the time, I passed for the stylist of the pack. Even during the Tour de France, even during the Vuelta [Tour of Spain], I always tried to bring my personal touch to the outfits I wore. Not especially to show me, just to dress as I wanted, to have the style in which I felt good. Each time I was given a pair of shoes? Well, I put a sticker on it, or I painted them with a chrome color. I rolled up the sleeves of my jersey or cut caps, I tried to tune my sunglasses to the colors of my outfit, etc. “
Today, there is not a second concept on the market like G4. Geoffroy Lequatre is the only pro cyclist, now ex, who develops and designs in person the collections and models!
“It’s me who designs, who creates them, who feels and who tests the clothes with, of course, our ambassadors and teams. There is all this G4 team behind that helps development, but it is true that to pose as a designer, product and development tester, knowing what there is need, I think to be the only one to be able to talk about. “
