How to choose the right bike jersey?

After having advised you in our previous article on how to choose the best pair of shorts, it’s now the turn of the jersey in the spotlight. Without the right kit, which should be comfortable, light and moisture wicking, your ride can quickly become a painful nightmare. Fortunately, our job is to ensure that pleasure is always associated with the world of cycling.

To feel good on your bike, you need to choose clothes made from the right fabrics. At all costs, avoid 100% cotton clothing which soaks up perspiration, becomes heavier, chafes and leads to reduced performance. You need fabric with moisture wicking properties, such as lycra. At G4 we use a top-of-the-range lycra, made in Italy, very soft to the touch and highly stretchable. This is our “base lycra” which allows you great freedom of movement without any chafing. Lycra sleeves are an added bonus as they are more aerodynamic.

You also need to consider the fit of the jersey’s hem. The G4 men‘s jerseys use a hypoallergenic silicone (for sensitive skin) which provides excellent hold and stays in place. The G4 women‘s sleeveless jerseys allow you to maximise your tan but because our jerseys are all certified UV50 +, they protect your skin and help you to avoid sunstroke. Check the zipper. It must be of good quality for optimal comfort. The G4 integral zipper provides a good fit yet allows the cyclist to open his jersey for increased ventilation. At G4, we only use the top YKK brand of zipper. We add a protective tab at the top of the zip to avoid irritation at the neckline which also looks pretty smart.

Finally, choose bright, trendy colours for an elegant look but also the yellow, orange and pink fluorescent ones to enhance your safety on the road. Alternatively, choose a black jersey which is always in fashion from our Luxe Collection. Each to their own!
