This is a great year for cycling in our southern region!
And yes, finally, it’s something unprecedented in world cycling and also in France, we will receive in Nice on July 21 the arrival of : The Tour de France 2024!
This is the first time in the history of the Tour de France that this famous and historic cycling race will not finish in Paris, as is usually the case, but in the Alpes-Maritimes department, in Nice (as the Tour de France falls this year at the same time as the Olympic Games).
This new edition promises to be exceptional!
WHAT IS THE TOUR DE FRANCE?
The Tour de France has been the most famous, biggest and toughest race in cycling for over 100 years!
Every summer, it welcomes tens of millions of spectators along the roads and in front of their televisions. The world’s top 200 cyclists compete every year! So there’s stiff competition for the crown: the yellow jersey.
CYCLING AND THE FRENCH RIVIERA
Cycling in the PACA region has developed considerably in recent years. More and more cycle paths and events have been set up around cycling.
There’s the new Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var, which has been taking place every year for the past few years, and the Paris-Nice, both of which offer breathtaking routes through our beautiful southern landscapes.
Many professional and ex-professional cyclists now live in the PACA region, Monaco and continue to train. Indeed, the South of France is the ideal place to ride: between the beautiful landscapes of the sea, the mountains, the breathtaking views. Beautiful flat spots for beginners, but also beautiful passes and gradients for the more experienced.
What an honor it is this year for Nice and Monaco to host the arrival of the Tour de France 2024! A global event that promises many tourists this summer on the Côte d’Azur for shopkeepers and citizens alike.
THE TOUR DE FRANCE 2024
This year’s Tour de France 2024 consists of 3 stages + 1 stage for amateurs (l’Étape du Tour), all of which will take place in the Alpes Maritimes. The final winner of the 2024 Tour de France will be crowned on July 21 in Nice, on the famous Place Masséna, the favorite square of the people of Nice.
All the cycling clubs in Nice, the metropolitan area, the region’s cyclists and cycling apparel brands have been preparing all year long for this huge, unprecedented event. Among the cycling clothing brands are 2 local brands: Café du Cycliste and the G4 cycling brand.
The founder of G4, Geoffroy Lequatre, is an ex-professional cyclist who, after his pro career, turned his hand to cycling apparel fashion, and thanks to his expertise and creativity, now creates his own high-end cycling clothing and accessories for men and women. As an ex-pro, he also took part in the Tour de France on several occasions!
The G4 showroom is located in Saint Laurent du Var, just a few kilometers from Nice, so for those of you coming to Nice for the arrival of the Tour de France, this is the perfect opportunity to discover our G4 brand, our showroom and all our creations.
G4 is also about creating made-to-measure cycling apparel, so if you’re looking for a club cycling outfit, or a custom-made or personalized group outfit for the Tour stage, Geoffroy is the man to create the perfect cycling outfit for you!
L’ETAPE DU TOUR 2024 IN NICE
The 32nd edition of the L’Etape du Tour de France will be held on July 7, on the same route as the 20th stage of the Tour de France, between Nice and the Col de la Couillole, a 138km route with over 4600 meters of accumulated vertical drop, including climbs of well-known PACA region passes such as Braus, Turini and La Colmiane.
The July stage of the Tour de France 2024 is an ideal time to discover our beautiful southern region, stroll around, store and find the new cycling gear you need.
Once again this year, we’re delighted to be present as a partner of l’Étape du Tour to meet you and introduce you to our G4 world. You’ll have the chance to chat with founder and designer Geoffroy Lequatre, and get advice from him and the whole team on how to find your ideal cycling outfit to suit your needs, tastes and measurements.
It’s also an opportunity for amateurs who want to challenge themselves on this stage of the Tour, to find the ideal cycling shorts to perform! G4 is well known for creating the most comfortable and technical cycling shorts, thanks in particular to the PROHD100 pad, a double honeycomb foam created from scratch by Geoffroy.
What a pleasure it is for us to welcome l’Étape du Tour and the entire Tour de France 2024 to our home!
This year of 2024 promises to be full of cycling and preparation for this great event that we’re all looking forward to!
