Here is the first cycling collection of our 2020 summer offer, Nice 1920 cycling collector. With its retro-chic style, it pays homage to the city of Nice with its legendary Casino Jetée-Promenade.
This new cycling collection is to recall the splendor of Nice on the one hand. On the other hand, it is a way for G4 to remember that today more than ever, Nice is a land of cycling. Through these few lines, you will know everything about this new Nice 1920 cycling collection.
The Nice 1920 cycling collection: history reminder
You have no doubt heard of the Casino Jetée-Promenade in the city of Nice. He was one of the main actors of the Riviera splendor. Built in 1882, this building was a place for walking, conviviality, games and entertainment. Its image was disseminated throughout Europe and has made it possible to increase the tourism sector exponentially. Between 1891 and 1914 it was “the belle epoque”, we can speak of “Nissa la bella”!
Built almost 60 meters from the coast, the building survived the First World War and quickly resumed its activities. Unfortunately during the Second World War, occupied by the Germans, the structure was dismantled. Upon release, a prefectural decree forced the owners to abandon the reconstruction of the Casino. It’s the end of an era, of course, but the Pier-Promenade will remain one of the elements that made Nice what it is today.

The Nice 1920 cycling collection: pays tribute to a cycling city
It was in 1906 that the history of Nice and that of cycling through the Tour de France began. It was moreover at the 4th edition of the Tour de France that the city welcomed the riders for the first time. At the end of a 345km stage, René Pottier won in Nice and then won this edition of the Tour. 1906 is in the middle of the “belle epoque” of which all the people of Nice speak! The Jetée-Promenade casino existed and was in its best period. You can understand more why this building sublimates our historic jersey.
Since this episode, it’s still 36 times that the Tour has settled in Nice and 2020 will be the second Grand Départ of the Promenade des Anglais. The French have often shone in Nice. We remember an arrival on the Promenade des Anglais in 1975 when Thevenet tamed Merckx and then won the Tour. We will not forget the first Great Departure from Nice in 1981 where Hinault won the prologue and in the process, his third Tour de France.
On August 29, the Promenade des Anglais will be the scene of two magnificent stages of the Tour de France for an explosive Grand Départ. The G4 team and its community will be ready with the Nice 1920 outfit to pay tribute to the bike but also to our beautiful city of Nice!
The Nice 1920 cycling collection: a new technology
On the technical side, the Nice 1920 cycling collection incorporates a fabric that has become essential on our cycling outfits, the SkinLycra. Very ergonomic, it adapts to different body shapes and provides unparalleled comfort. Indeed, this fabric is extremely soft and light. Once put on, it appears as a second skin. On the sides and arms, we opted for something new with an UltraLine fabric. This technical fabric ensures breathability and freshness when temperatures rise. It also brings a touch of incomparable style!
At the shorts now! We have reused the technologies of the Luxe shorts for optimal comfort. It is therefore a black shorts cut and structured with laser which accompanies our Nice 1920 cycling jersey. The laser makes the compressive fabric what it is very pleasant when pedaling and after several hours of saddle. The elastic measures 7cm, this promotes uniformity of tightening at the thigh. Obviously the “Nice 1920” finish flocked on one side of the shorts finalizes a sleek, classy and minimalist design.
As for the socks now. Black with blue polka dots (color of our brand G4) to match the rest of the outfit, our Nice 1920 socks have a longer upper than our usual models. With this 19cm upper, the socks come calfed for a flawless style.
